
Punya Gautam, born in 2034 B.S. (1977 A.D.) in Nijgadh, Bara district, Nepal, hails from a well-off farming family. His childhood was deeply rooted in agricultural work, where he gained experience in cattle rearing, animal husbandry, and paddy farming. Despite having a hectare of land, Gautam embraced his farming responsibilities with determination and pride.
From a young age, Punya Gautam demonstrated a strong inclination toward education. He successfully passed the SLC examination in 2050 B.S. with first division marks. Afterward, he moved to Makwanpur to continue his education at multiple colleges. Though he initially had aspirations to pursue law or forestry studies, his growing interest in politics shifted his focus. Punya chose to study commerce with the belief that it would help him become a successful leader. He completed his Master’s degree in the field with first division and is currently working toward a Ph.D. in political science.
His journey in politics began early, and by the age of 14, Gautam found himself behind bars for the first time due to his active protest against the Tanakpur treaty. A pivotal moment in his life occurred in 2044 B.S., when he spent three months in prison—a period that coincided with his father's untimely death. Despite this setback, Punya remained undeterred in his pursuit of a political career. His contributions to the Revolt of 2062/2063 further solidified his reputation as a committed political figure. In 2058 B.S., Punya joined the Communist Party of Nepal, firmly aligning himself with communist ideology and advocating for freedom, development, and national sovereignty.
Punya Gautam’s career has also extended to media and writing. He has published over 2000 articles and several poems, with his first poem, Neta, being published in 2046 B.S. His unique ability to provide insightful analyses has endeared him to the Nepalese people. Currently residing in Kathmandu, Punya continues to contribute to the political landscape of Nepal.
Physically, Punya stands at 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 m) and weighs 70 kg. His black hair and eyes complement his slim body type. As of 2023, his net worth is estimated to be between 2 to 3 crores NPR, reflecting his comfortable financial position. His income comes from various sources, including his work as a host writer, landlord, and paid article writer for newspapers. These diverse revenue streams ensure a stable and sustainable income.
