Kurt Suzuki In a historic move, the Los Angeles Angels have named Kurt Suzuki as their new manager as of October 22, 2025. The former Major League Baseball catcher, who enjoyed a 16-season playing career , becomes the first Hawaiian-born full-time manager in MLB history. Suzuki’s impressive career includes winning the 2019 World Series with the Washington Nationals and earning an All-Star selection in 2014. Before his professional days, he also led Cal State Fullerton to a College World Series title in 2004 , where he won the Johnny Bench Award as the nation’s top catcher. Throughout his MLB journey, Suzuki played 1,635 games , recording a .255 batting average , 1,421 hits , 143 home runs , and 730 RBIs .
