Early Life and Entry into Acting

Ramchandra's journey into acting began with the stage drama "Saccha Prem", a joint production by Jorpati Youth Club and Bouddha Club. Directed by Parijat Dhungana and written by literary legend Bhairav Aryal, the drama featured a 24-year-old Ramchandra in the role of Kaka. His performance was widely appreciated by both the audience and the production team, marking the start of his acting career.

Balancing Government Job and Theater

Alongside his job at Nepal Telecom, Ramchandra nurtured his passion for acting. With encouragement from peers and seniors, he continued performing in stage dramas while working full-time. His talent was soon recognized by Shree Samuha, an esteemed cultural group that included personalities like Nir Shah, Mukunda Shrestha, and Ravi Khadka. As a lifetime member, he acted in several acclaimed plays such as "Adharo and Ujyaalo", directed by Hari Prasad Rimal, performed across various locations in Nepal.

Film Debut and Breakthrough

In 2039 B.S., Ramchandra made his film debut with "Basudev", directed by Nir Shah and produced by businessman Binod Chaudhary. Not only did he act, but he also contributed to the management side of the production. Despite his demanding job, he adapted his schedule—working night shifts—to accommodate his growing acting commitments.

Rise in Nepali Television

Ramchandra’s television breakthrough came in 2041 B.S. with his role in the historical drama "Prithvi Narayan" on Nepal Television. Over the years, he acted in several popular TV serials, including:

  • "Chakravyuh" (2043 B.S.)

  • "Tada ko Basanta" (2045 B.S.) – His role as a lower-caste character was especially praised.

These performances helped solidify his reputation as one of Nepal’s most beloved and skilled television actors.

International Appearances

Despite limited fluency in English, Ramchandra managed to appear briefly in an international Hollywood film as a gift shop owner. He also played a bartender in the Bollywood film "Love Nepal", and featured in the Hindi serial "Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo", aired on Zee TV.

Retirement and Continued Contributions

Ramchandra Adhikari retired from Nepal Telecom in 2058 B.S., but his contribution to Nepali cinema continued. With a career spanning over four decades, his filmography includes:

He has appeared in over 400 films, 40 short films, numerous music videos, and radio dramas, making him one of the most prolific actors in Nepali film history.

Personal Life and Legacy

Ramchandra is married to Kanchi Maya Pandit, and the couple has three sons and one daughter. He is the son of Lok Bahadur Pandit and Gauri Kumari Pandit, who played influential roles in his life.

Despite standing at 5 feet 3 inches and weighing 60 kg, his presence in the entertainment industry is immense. With an estimated monthly income of 1 to 1.5 lakh Nepali rupees, and a net worth of 2 to 3 crore, Ramchandra Adhikari continues to inspire aspiring Nepali artists and comedians.
